Rori-POV
"Where the hell were you?"
The first words i heard as soon as i walked into the living room was spat at me by Adalwolf. Harke was right behind me as Adal fumed in anger.
Harke and i have been out for three hours running in our shifters form and we just got back to find Adalwolf almost throwing the house upside down.
"Answer me." He yelled and i was worried that he would grab my mother attention from her sleep.
"She was out with me." Harke answered and Adalwolf turned his glare towards his brother.
"Are you kidding me?" He yelled at him but Harke stepped forward.
"I wanted to go for a run and Rori wanted to see my wolf. So i took her." His answer immideatly shuts Adalwolf as he shifted his gaze from his brother to me and then back to Harke.
"You went for a run?" He asked in a calm tone and Harke nodded his head.
Adalwolf pursed his lip as he looked at his brother. He looked down a his feet before mummbling something and he walked up the stairs to the room my mom gave him.
Harke sucked in a huge breathe before turning to look at me. He showed me a soft smile before ruffling my hair and walking to the kitchen, i assume to grab a late night snack.
I sighed as i made my way to my room. I was tried and my body was stiff all over but i haven't felt so happy in a while.
Showing Harke my Lioness and running with his wolf was the best. We sore through the woods, making sure that no one saw us. I knew Harke had a lot of question he wanted to ask me but he held back. All we did was run, run, run.
I dropped myself on my bed and a smile streched against my lips. It's not just my happiness that made me smile, it was my lioness' as well.
I chuckled as i remembered how she kept bumping into Harkes' wolf looking for a playful fight.
A knock on my door drew me out of my thoughts and i sat up. From the sweet scent coming from the other side, i can tell who it was without opening the door.
Adalwolf stood at my door after he knocked once and didn't make a move to leave even when i ignored him. After a couple of minutes, i opened the door.
"Hey." He softly called out and i nodded my head at him. "I was hopeing i could talk to you for a minute?" He asked and i hesitated before i stepped away from the door to let him in.
He awkwardly stood in the middle of my room as he looked around. He looked at my bed for a few seconds and then shifted his gaze over to the chair near my desk.
He walked over to the chair and sat down with a loud "uff..."
I leaned against my door as i waited for him to speak.
"Did he really shift infront of you?" He asked after a few minutes of silence. His eyes locked with mine as he waited for me to answer his question.
I nodded my head and watched him getting close to a melt down.
Here is the thing about Adalwolf. He is a very collected person. But from the years i have known him, i'v witnessed a few meltdowns that really broke my heart.
He'd start with closing his eyes and breathing in and out heavely to control his breath.
When breathing in and out doesn't work, he would run his fingers through his hair and tuge on the strands as hard as he can to wake himself from the panic.
"Adal..." i whispered as i watched him run his fingers through his hair and tuged against it. He doesn't look at me or even acknowledge what room he is in as he was too focused on his breathe.
His other hand finds its way to his chest and he squeezed the fabric of his plain gray shirt into a fist.
"Adal?" I called out again but he didn't replie. So, as i always did when he was in his head, i slowly walked over to him and lowered myself to one knee.
I placed a hand over this own that was fisting his shirt and his eyes snapped open. As soon as his eyes opened, a lone tear escaped them and i felt a squeez in my chest that made me want to cry too.
"What..." he started but his words chocked him and he let out a sob before he tried to continue.
"What does...what does his wolf look like?" He asked me as more tears escaped from his eyes.
I remembered what Harke had told me before he shifted. He said that no one knew what his wolf looks like and he even ran away from his own brother on his first shift.
"What does his wolf look like?" He asked again in between sobs and i couldn't help but pull him into my embrace.
Adalwolf fell to the floor as he wrapped his arms around me to pull me closer. He burried his face in my neck as he cried.
"He has brown fur..." i started and Adal grew quiter as he heard me explain what his baby brothers' beast look like.
"His eyes glow the same shade of gold that you have, Adal. He stands tall like a worrior. He's big and strong. I'm sure you're proud of him..."
He nodded his head as he tightend his arms around me. Adalwolf sniffled a little before he commented. "I always thought his wolf would be chubby."
I chuckled as i remembered always telling Harke that his wolf would be chubby. Adalwolf lets out a little laugh before taking a deep breathe.
"I'm really glad you're the first person he trusted his wolf with." He whispered before pulling back a little to stare at me.
His eyes were bloodshot and tear tracks painted down his cheeks.
"Thank you." He whispered as he stared right in to my eyes.
I shook my head as i reached a hand up and brushed fresh tears away from the corner of his eyes.
"It's okay." I whispered back.
Adalwolf took my hand that was brushing his tears and held it against his chest before closing his eyes. His forehead pressed against mine, forcing me to close my eyes as well and enjoy the closeness of my mate.
That bond, it's still there. Eventhough he had said the words of rejection, since i didn't accept it, i can still feel it coursing through my chest.
My lioness stirred in my chest in a peaceful way that brought a smile to my face. I opened my eyes to see him staring at me. And before i known it, his lips were pressed against mine.
Adalwolf swallowed my protest in a soft kiss as he gently tangled his fingers through my hair to pull me closer.
For once, i didn't try to fight him. Instead, i kissed him back. I somehow ended up sitting across Adalwolfs' lap and he deepend the kiss and continued to steal my breathe away.
He didn't stop until we both needed to break for air.
"Rori..." Adal called out but i shook my head.
"Don't say anything." I whispered and he nodded his head before pulling me closer and leaning his back against the wall.
I didn't want to ruin this special moment with words that i know woukd hurt the both of us. So, i rested my head against his chest and let his fast heartbeat comfort me through the rest of the night.
Tomorrow, we might go back to how we always are. But tonight, we are no one but eachothers mates. And that's all that matters to me at this moment.
