Everything was blank.
Abrar literally couldn't feel anything. His whole body felt numb and his legs didn't move even an inch, his eyes felt tight every time he tried to open them. But he tried hard. He can't die. Not yet.
"Abrar... are you listening to me? Ya Allah! Doctor his hands are moving." Sarah cried in happiness as she called for the doctor. She thanked her almighty silently and went out to inform her worried husband and her mother in law, who didn't leave the hospital for the last two days.

Abrar was confused as to what happened to his mother and why was she behaving weird. He tried to move his fingers but it felt like it was frozen to the bed. The sudden brightness hurt his eyes, but his eyelids slowly yet finally opened and the first thing he saw was the strange person shoving torch into his eyes. He blinked away and felt that person stepping backwards.
"Hey..." the doctor tried to act friendly but Abrar gave him an angry glare.
"Where the hell am I?" was the first thing he asked.
"You're in the hospital." the doctor answered calmly as he checked his foot, "can you feel this?" Abrar nodded like it was the most obvious thing. How can one person not feel his legs?
"Do you remember what happened before you came here?" the doctor asked again as he checked his hands making him wince in pain.
"I and my wife went on a long drive and then that's all. It's blank afterwards. What happened to me?" he demanded furiously; the doctor then checked his injured head which was band-aided.

"Someone attacked you severely. And then you were brought to the hospital on time, luckily. You should thank Allah for that." the doctor smiled at him.
"Finally! Thank goodness that you're fine. What is wrong with you? Who in their right mind will go on a long drive so late at night that too with elections coming so close? What if something happened to you?" Ibrahim who barged into the ward yelled at his son furiously yet his voice was filled with concern and love.
"Stop scolding him... He just woke up." Sarah scolded her husband as she went and sat beside her son.
"Your son is fine now. His injuries will take some time to heal and that's it. Nothing to worry." the doctor replied with an assuring smile. But Abrar was so confused the whole time.

"Can someone call Haya? Where is she? Is she okay?" he remembered the last he saw was her panic-stricken face before something hard hit his head. He couldn't remember anything afterwards.
"Abrar beta... relax. You shouldn't take so much stress. Sit still." his mother told him with concern but he wasn't having any of it.
"WHERE IS SHE?"
"Don't raise your voice. She's missing okay. She's missing for the past two days and there's no call from the kidnapper yet. How did you think that roaming out at night unarmed will be okay? Did you see what happened to you now? I hope you learnt your lesson the hard way." Ibrahim snapped at his son.
"What do you mean she's kidnapped? Didn't you try to find her out? You're a politician for fucks sake." Abrar yelled in frustration as he removed the pins from his hands which was circulating the glucose for him. Haya was kidnapped right under his nose. How did he let that happen? Was she okay? Why didn't the kidnapper call them yet? Worry began to take over his mind and suddenly he was so scared.
Abrar Shah was never scared of anything.
But for the first time in his life, he felt what fear looks like. The fear of losing her was scaring him like crazy. He couldn't even think straight.
He did lose his twin brother, but it wasn't the same case with Ayaan. He wasn't aware that his twin was going to take that drastic step and by the time he came to know about it, Ayaan was already dead.
But losing Haya will surely make him go nuts. He can't lose her. Not yet!
"Abrar. Watch your language. He's your father." his mother scolded him angrily but he didn't give a damn.
"I need to go and find out where she is. You guys are of no use. How long has she been missing?" he demanded furiously.
Sarah and Ibrahim passed nervous glances towards each other.
"Two days." his mother mumbled incoherently and he snapped his head at her, furiously.
"TWO DAYS? WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY TWO DAYS?"
"Mr Abrar. You shouldn't take so much stress. Your head is injured already. Calm down." the doctor finally spoke something, he stayed quiet for giving the family privacy but Abrar wasn't calming down so he had to butt in.
"Calm down? You want me to calm down after knowing that my wife is missing for two days? Two days!" Abrar was going insane at just that mere thought.
Suddenly Ibrahim's phone rang in between making everyone turn their attention towards him.
"Give me that." Abrar pulled the phone from his father and swiped open to answer the call.
"Hello?"
"Finally! Look who's awake? Tch, tch... Worried about your wife, huh?" the caller from the other side faked pity whilst smirking evilly.
"Imran Sheik! You've crossed all the limits!" Abrar yelled at the phone but only heard the dry chuckle of that sick man.
"I don't like beating around the bushes and so do you. I'll come straight to the point. If you want to have your wife back then withdraw from this election. Nothing more and nothing less. If you don't then forget her." Imran hung up the call before Abrar could even blink.
Elections were the most important part of his life. Becoming a leader was his ambition, his dream and every damn thing. All his life he has only dreamt of one thing, that is to become a leader like his father and chachu.
This was also the first-ever election in which he is taking part in.
It was literally his dream.
But the question was, will he be able to give that up, his everything... for Haya's sake?
***
Haya has never felt so helpless in her whole life. She did not feel like this when her parents died or when she has gotten married to Abrar forcibly. But what she was feeling right now was nothing less than hell.
Tied up in a chair for two straight days and being left in the dark was not her most favourite things.
"Lunchtime..." the person who was guarding her for the past two days shoved the plate on her laps and untied just her hands.
"I don't want this. LET ME GO!" Haya threw away the plate in anger and began to yell in frustration.
"Stop yelling because there's no use and yes, I'm not getting you another plate." the guard yelled back at her and Haya flinched in disgust.
"What do you want from me?" Haya demanded helplessly, she felt like crying aloud like a baby. She wants to go home and see if Abrar was fine. He should be fine. He will be fine!
The last she saw him was two days ago, in a pool of blood.
Ya Allah, please keep him safe.
Haya prayed under her breath as a drop of tear rolled down her cheeks.
"Now that's a good question, Haya Ali." she snapped her head at that familiar voice.
"Long time, no see huh?" the person smiled evilly making Haya look at him in disgust.
"Aahil?" She couldn't believe her eyes. What the hell was he doing here was her question.
"Yes! The one and only... What did you think? That I'd let you go so easily, huh?" he gave her a cunning smile," I work for Imran Sheik and helped him kidnap you and in return, he promised to help me out." Haya was all the more confused.
"I want you to sign these papers. If you don't then the consequences won't be good." Aahil smiled victoriously as he shoved a pen and paper on her lap. She gave him a blank stare. It was taking time to process all of this. She still couldn't believe her eyes nor her ears.
"I'm not signing anything." even before reading the papers, Haya knew what it was. She was in no way going to let this happen.
"Well, you are. If you don't then don't blame me." Aahil opened his phone casually and began to play her a video, she watched that confusedly but her eyes widened in shock realizing what it was.
"What happened to Abrar? Is he okay? Aahil, why are you doing this to me? Please let me go, you're my cousin, right? Please have some courtesy." Haya pleaded with him helplessly... after watching Abrar in the hospital bed her mind was going haywire.
But the guy only smirked.
"Well, sweetheart you should have married me, then all of this wouldn't have happened at all. Your loss. But if you don't sign them, you see these wires here." He pointed out the ones tied to Abrar and continued," I'll make sure those are cut and the rest you know what will happen."
"NO! DON'T DO ANYTHING TO HIM!" Haya yelled angrily whilst struggling to get up but unfortunately for her, she was tied up to the chair. Very tightly.
"Then sign the damn papers. It is as simple as that." Aahil replied casually.
"If I signed these then will you let me go?" Haya asked helplessly as tears rolled down her cheeks continuously.
"Sign it first, then I'll get to think about it." Aahil laughed at her condition. It felt good to see Haya Ali so helpless like that.
Haya valued the money which her mother and father have earned. For the past ten years, she lived a tough life with her uncle and aunt only to save this money from these cunning people. There was no way that she would give them her money so easily, it was her parent's hard work and sweat.
But will she give all that up for saving Abrar's life? Will she do that for him?
