Rori-POV
(Contains spoiler for book one: she's an alpha and he's a human.)
Phoebe finally called after five days of being silent since she and Brandon left for silver fang pack. And she had some disturbing news she wanted to deliver.
So, the gang was sitting infront of their computers and phones, ready to hear what was going on.
By the gang, i mean Alpha Light and her beta/gamma with phoebe and Brandon, Mr. Beam with his daughter Darla, Diago with Alpha Harmon of the blood moon pack and finally me with Adalwolf.
Phoebe cleared her throat before she started explaining her journy.
Brandon and her had encountered two shadow attacks while they were driving towards Alpha Lights' pack but thanks to some tricks that phoebe had up her sleeves, they were able to escape unharmed.
When they had arrived in silver fang pack, Alpha Light had immideatly taken them to the woods to find something. A cage...A silver cage.
Phoebe stopped talking and turned to glance over to Alpha Light. The Alpha was leaning on her elbows with her hands covering her face and her mate was right beside her, sporting a very worried look as he threw his arm over her shoulder.
Alpha Light took a couple of second to look up at before sighing.
"A couple of years back... actualy seven years back, right before i became the alpha, there had been a rouge attack here. They just appeared and took many pups, childerns and would stop for a few days before coming back for more. Those rouges had silver laced in their teeth so their bites would be more poisoness to us. And a witch was helping them with hold the effects of silver for them."
Alpha Light stopped briefly to glance over to Phoebe and i realized who she was talking about. Sabrina, Phoebes' twin that went dark was the one helping their enemies.
"Any way..." Alpha Light continued "their was someone from within our pack that had betrayed us. He was my father gamma. Apparently he was working for our enemy with promisse of taking...me as his mate. He tried to kill my parents..." she trailed off before she shook her head.
"As punishment, we had caged him in a silver cage he used to lock the pups in. My father had asked for a witch from the council who can glamor the cage so no one other than us could identify it. But, Rori, that figure you saw in your dream, for some reason had left a dread in me and that's why i asked for Phoebe."
"No one is in that cage." Phoebe finished for her and Diago and i seemed to be the only people who were confused. It seems the rest knew the back story of this gamma that betrayed the Alphas' father.
"All you need to know is that Mitch is dangerous and an evil son of a b*tch..." Noah spat "And if he's gone then it means one thing. He's coming back for revenge and he might have a witch with him."
"Yes..." Alpha Light nodded "But his scent is still strong around that place. So it means he was still in that silver cage just until recently."
Her words confused me. Not the part where he has a witch with him. But the part of the recent thing.
"Wait..." i called out, grabbing everyones' attention.
"The first shadow attack i experianced was four years ago. If your guy has been in his cage until recently then he might not be the mastermind behind the shadows. Maybe he's just a key to a door and someone might be using him."
My comment silence everyone as they though things over.
"That woman..." Diago called out for the first time since his attack "The white woman in my dreams, in our dreams... She's the witch. My..."
Diago hesitated before he continued.
"My beast tells me that she infact is the cursed Luna or someone with close relations to her. What ever it is that she's looking from in the four of us, she must never get it. Or it might mean the end for all shifters."
"Oh yeah?" Mr. Beam asked in a rouge voice "what exactly is your beast?" His question pearked us all as we waited for Diago to answer.
"I'm Fire." Is all Diago said before he hang up.
***
My head is pounding as i leaned back on my chair. After Diago had hung up and Alpha Light told us to be extra careful, i have been staring at the wall, wondering just how in hell i got myself in this mess in the first place.
As i was in my head, I felt strong hands on my shoulder and i instantly tensed. Adalwolf gently massaged my muscles and forced them to relax.
"Are you okay?" He asked and i just nodded my head.
Since our make-out session two nights ago, i have been trying my best to avoid him at any cost but he always seems to find his way to me. And even though i know he'd notice my sudden withdraw, he didn't comment on it. Instead, he tried to give me enough space. But today is not one of those days.
"I don't get why those things are after you?" He wondered out loud as he continued to work his magic on my shoulders.
His thumbs brushed up against the back of my neck and i had to resist the urge to shrudder under his touch. He continued the same motion over and over again until i couldn't take it anymore.
So i pushed away from him and stood up as if the chair had burned my ass. Adalwolf was taken back by my sudden reaction that he just held his hands up and looked at me with pure confussion.
"What's wrong?" He asked and i just shook my head for a while to clear the fog out of my mind.
"Nothing. I just want to be alone."
Adalwolf frowned and looked over my bedroom door before he returned his gaze to me.
"Rori?" He caled out but i interupted him.
"I just want to be left alone, Adalwolf. Is that so hard to understand?"
Damn, i sound like a b*tch. But i couldn't help it. My lioness and i were getting too confortable with his presence and i can't allow myself or my beast to expect anything more from him. Because once this threat is over, i'm out of here.
Adal nodded his head before heading over to the door only to shake his head and stop.
"No." He firmly said as he turned back aroud to look at me. "I didn't say anything for the past few days when you were avoiding me but enough of it, Rori. Just tell me what i did wrong."
"You didn't do anything, Adal." I answered with a sigh.
"Is it about the kiss?" He asked and i looked up at him before i shrugged a single shoulder.
"What about it? You were upset about your brother and i was comforting you. That KISS was nothing more than a mistake."
Adalwolf took a step back as if i just slapped him across the face.
"A mistake?" He asked and i nodded my head. Adal walked over to me and cupped my face with both his hands.
"No, Rori. It was not a mistake. You are my mate and i know i have work to do to make it up to you but never think that our kiss was a mistake."
He softly growled in my face and i used all the strenght i could muster at the time to push him away.
"Your mate?" I asked "you think i'm you mate? No, Adalwolf Czar. I stopped being your mate the night you rejected me. I'm not your mate. I was too weak and a human for you, remember. Right now, i am nothing more that a person you need to keep alive. So don't for a second think that i will ever forgive you for how small you made me."
Adal just looked at me as i screamed out the words. And when i was done, he inhaled as he ran his fingers through his hair.
"Rori..." he started to explain but stopped when we heard a scream come from outside.
Our arrgumment forgotten, both of us rushed to my window to see Rouges attacking our people.
Rouges possessed by Shadows.
