Kellan
We were back home, back to reality. We have only been back a few days, and I want to jump on a flight somewhere with Elsie again and forget everything and everyone. Work is already stressing me out!
I am missing all the alone time Elsie and I had while away. I don’t even need to work! I could hand the reigns to someone else because I have more than enough money to live on, but if I did, I would go insane. I need to work, and I need to feel like I earn what I have. Not working would make me feel guilty. I could probably cut my days more and work from home. But Elsie is busy too, so I don’t know if there would be any point.
I am sitting at my desk, taking a breather before I lose it. I don’t like being that guy. The angry, bossy one, but I don’t have a choice; sometimes, I have to be tough. I have my office door locked, so no one can bother me, and I can have my coffee in peace.
As I sit lost in my thoughts, a part of me regrets not proposing to Elsie in Paris. I can’t help but wonder if maybe she would have said yes to me. It has been on my mind recently. But I need to slow my thoughts down. I am still not sure if Elsie can move in with me yet. I want her to so bad, but I know she needs to consider a few things first.
I am not used to sharing my space with anyone. I haven’t ever lived with a woman. It would take some adjusting. I am all in, though, if she is.
I believe the best thing to do is see how living together works first, and then I can think about asking her to marry me. A knock on my office door pulls me from my thoughts. I groan in annoyance. I made it clear I didn’t want to be disturbed.
I pull myself up from my office chair and head for the door. I take a deep breath to calm myself before I unlock it and open it.
“I asked not to be disturbed,” I snap before knowing who is there.
“Um, should I leave?”
I am surprised to see Elsie standing there. I instantly feel better.
“No, of course not, sorry. Come on, my love.”
I smile and step aside. Elsie smiles brightly at me and saunters in. I close and lock the door behind us. I turn my attention to her.
“Are you okay, love? You seem stressed.” She asks, concerned.
“I am now that you are here, sweetheart. It has been one of those days. I wasn’t expecting you, but I am happy you are here.”
Elsie smiles sweetly and leans up to kiss me. I rest my hand on her cheek and kiss back.
“I have some news. Are you free to go out for lunch and coffee?” she asks, hopeful.
“What sort of news?”
I am silently hoping it is good news.
“Good news. Now are you free or not?” she giggles.
“For you, angel, always.”
I steal another kiss before I gather what I need. I unlock my office door and take Elsie’s hand in mine as we leave. I tell my assistant to hold my calls unless essential they can get me on my cell.
“How does Italian sound for lunch?” she asks.
“Yeah, sounds good.” I smile.
We leave the building and cross the street to the Italian restaurant. We are seated straight away.
“Do you want some wine, beautiful?” I ask.
“Just a small glass because I have a lot of studying to do and need a clear head.”
I order two small glasses of white wine before we look at the menu.
“So, what is your news?” I ask.
I want to know what it is.
“Can we eat first?” she laughs.
I chuckle and shake my head.
“You know I am not the most patient man in the world.”
“Fine! To keep you happy,” she teases.
Elsie is about to tell me, but before she can, the waiter comes with our drinks. We thank him, and he disappears. Elsie lifts the glass to her lips, taking a small sip and purposely taking her time.
“Elsie!” I whine.
She laughs loudly and sets her glass down.
“I spoke to Cassie, and it turns out she and Barry have been talking about moving in together too. So, if your offer still stands, I would love to move in with you.” She gushes, a bright smile on her lips.
“Yes!” I answer quickly, not even having to think about it.
“Yay!” she celebrates and reaches over the table to kiss me.
“Come and sit by me, my love.” I encourage.
Elsie moves from her side of the booth to mine. The moment she is close to me, I attack her lips and face with kisses. She snickers and tries to stop me.
“Now you have gotten me all wet.” She pouts.
I smirk and rest my hand on her thigh, “Don’t I always make you wet?”
I squeeze her thing, and she gasps.
“I didn’t mean in that way, but yes.” She whimpers.
I grab her face and kiss her roughly. Once we part, I smile widely at her.
“I can’t wait for you to move in.”
“Me too! Are you positive you want me in your home? In your space?”
“Yes. And it won’t be my home. It will be ours.” I reply and stroke her face.
“As long as you are sure.” She smiles.
“I have never been so sure about anything in my life, Elsie.”
“I love you, Kellan.”
“I love you too, beautiful.”
The idea of such a significant change makes me nervous, but it is what I want. It is the right thing for us. I love the thought of her next to me every night, and she will still be there every morning.
We steal another few kisses before finally turning to the menu to decide what we want for lunch. Elsie rests her head on my shoulder as we do. I smile, slip my free arm around and kiss the top of her head.
I still don’t know what I did to deserve her. I haven’t been that great of a person to deserve someone so beautiful, sweet and pure, but I will count my lucky stars and do whatever it takes to hold onto her. I want to give her a good life and be the type of man she deserves.
“When do you want to move in?” I ask softly.
“Hmm, probably within the next month. There are things to sort out, and we need to give some notice to our landlord.”
“That’s fine, but if you like, we can start to move your things in straightaway?” I suggest.
“Sure, we can do that.” She smiles and kisses my cheek.
It will become more real when her things are in my house, soon to be our house. I just hope I don’t mess up between now and then enough for her to change her mind because that would kill me.
